On Tuesday, Gita Gopinath, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chief Economist expected global debt to soar over the next year that moratorium on debt payments along with debt restructuring might be required to continue as the world’s economy emerges from the coronavirus pandemic.
As economies recover, debt to output levels would stabilize. However, some countries would need aids, such as debt restructuring. Gopinath urged official creditors to enable poor countries some debt relief.
