According to Interfax article published on April 12, 2023, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered its forecast for Kazakhstan's economic growth in 2023 to 4.3% from 4.4%, according to its World Economic Outlook published on Tuesday.
Kazakhstan's economic growth is expected to accelerate to 4.9% in 2024 and slow down to 2.8% in 2028, it said.
Inflation in Kazakhstan should stand at 14.8% in 2023 (up from 11.3% under IMF outlook released in October 2022) and then go down to 8.5% in 2024 and 4.7% in 2028.
Kazakhstan's current account deficit is expected at 1.9% of GDP in 2023, 2% of GDP in 2024, and 3.1% of GDP in 2028.
As reported earlier, Kazakhstan's economy grew 3.1% in 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan set itself the goal of bringing economic growth to at least 4% in 2023.
The country's inflation was 20.3% in 2022.
