Data from India’s Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas showed the country’s crude oil imports came in at a three-month high of 17.39 million tons in August. That represents an increase of 15.8% from July and 3.1% from August 2020. The increase was attributed to higher crude throughput as refiners boost production to meet higher demand around the festival season. The data also showed that oil product imports rose by 17% year-on-year to 3.85 million tons, while exports increased by about 4.6% year-on-year to 4.80 million tons.
