India’s state-controlled Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC) has shut the operations of two offshore drilling rigs in Mumbai High and Bassein areas after several workers were tested positive for coronavirus.
The country’s biggest upstream producer is still operating the remaining 34 rigs in the areas. ONGC also said that the temporary closure has not affected production.
The two fields are the company’s biggest producing assets. Mumbai High produces around 170,000 bpd of crude and 12 million mtpd of gas. The Bassein or Vasai area produces 32 million mtpd of gas and 60,000 bpd of oil.
