AlwaysFree: Indonesia’s Merakes Gas Field to Disrupt Output for 6 Months

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Thursday, Wirato, the deputy head of operations at the state's regulator SKK Migas, said that the disruption in Indonesia’s gas field Merakes would likely affect the output for up to six months.

The subsurface issue with one of the wells in Merakes is being fixed. Wirato estimated that  50% of production would be recovered soon, probably in the upcoming few days.

“For 100% recovery will take quite some time, around six months," he added.

The problem in Merakes has not impacted the overall operations in the Bontang Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) where the project is located, but production may be slightly affected. If the output is affected, SKK Migas will look for backup from other producers who can supply more.

Eni-operated Merakes project began gas output in April with a nameplate capacity of 450 mcfd.
