AlwaysFree: Indorama To Build PET Recycling Plant In Indonesia

Author: SSESSMENTS

Thailand-based Indorama Ventures (IVL) plans to build a new facility in Karawang, West Java, Indonesia, to recycle post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET), helping the Indonesian government to meet its waste reduction target. The plant will convert nearly two billion plastic bottles a year into PET flake feedstock which will be used to produce synthetic fibres and recycled resin suitable for food contact use. IVL said the plant is expected to start operation in 2023. The company operates six sites across Karawang, Purwakarta, Cilegon, and Tangerang. It plans to invest up to $1.5 billion to fund its target to recycle a minimum of 750,000 tons/year of PET globally in 2025.
