AlwaysFree: Ingenico Halted Business In Russia In 2022, Company Says

Author: SSESSMENTS

According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on January 25, 2023, Ingenico completely terminated and sold its business in Russia in mid-2022, the press service of the France’s company specializing in production of payment terminals told TASS.

"Reportsare absolutely false. We terminated operations in Russia in mid-2022 and left the country in June of the same year. The entire business was sold; the company has no employees or financial interests in Russia anymore," the company said. "That is, we are not present in Russia for months and nothing new has occurred recently," Ingenico added

Commenting on data regarding presence of two companies in Russia presumably related to Ingenico, the press service said that they are not owned by the French company anymore. "The transfer was made; Ingenico has no operating companies in Russia anymore; they were sold in June 2022," Ingenico informed. "Probably names of companies did not change but we have no financial ties with them," the press service noted. The company was unable to promptly comment at the same time on the possibility of continued technical support of terminals operating in Russia at present.

The RBC news outlet said earlier, citing sources on the payment market, that Ingenico, one of the largest manufacturers of card payment terminals, could leave Russia in March 2023. According to RBC, Ingenico’s contracts with the staff in Russia are effective until February 15 and the company plans to leave Russia on March 1.
