Following the July 2 early morning explosion at South Africa’s Astron Energy’s refinery in Cape Town, investigations are in progress to determine the cause of the incident which killed two workers.
Astron Energy, majority-owned by global commodities trader Glencore, stated that at the moment there is still no clarity when will the full production at the 100,000 bpd refinery would continue. However, the company ensured that imports of its products are ongoing and there is no supply interruption.
A spokeswoman said that the investigations are involving an external lead and combined team of internal and external subject matter experts.
