INVISTA Performance Technologies (IPT) earlier this month announced that Hengli Petrochemical’s fourth PTA line, which utilizes INVISTA’s P8 Process Technology, had met all performance guarantees. The new 2.5 million tons/year PTA production unit is located in Changxing Island, Dalian, in the Chinese province of Liaoning. Using INVISTA’s proprietary R2R technology, the new unit also yields benzoic acid as a co-product.
The unit came online on January 8 after the engineering kick-off meeting just 22 months earlier. Hengli is also constructing a fifth PTA line in Changxing Island with similar capacity with the fourth line. Hengli has been operating three 2.2 million tons/year PTA lines in the same site, which is the world’s largest PTA production site.
