AlwaysFree: Iran’s Daily Natural Gas Output Rises

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Sunday, the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said that the country’s daily natural gas output rose by 24 mcm year-on-year to 674 mcm and the average daily gas consumption is at 540 mcm at the moment.

Among the total produced gas, some 25% goes to household consumption, 37% is supplied to the power plants, 30% is used in the industry sector, 4% used as CNG and 4% is for other consumptions.

Previously in April, NIGC Managing Director Hasan Montazer Torbati said that the country’s gas production, transfer, and distribution were kept stable amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Iran’s gas production was also managed to be stable despite the sanctions on its energy sector.

“Sanctions could not impede our gas production and we had a good condition in gas supply in the past year,” Torbati said.

Looking ahead, as the hot season is approaching, the company has been taking required efforts to raise gas production to stabilize supply.

The country’s daily gas consumption was at a record high of roughly 600 mcm in 2019. Over 93.6% of Iran’s population enjoys natural gas. Gas is supplied to 97% of people in the urban areas and 82% of people in the rural regions.
