Iraq is planning energy contracts worth billions of dollars with Saudi Arabia.
The details regarding the size of the deal were not revealed. The deal is intended to be signed before the end of the current Iraqi government term.
According to Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar, a partnership between the two countries would involve Saudi Aramco to explore and develop natural gas fields in Iraq's western desert.
With Saudi’s Acwa Power, the deal is to establish water desalination plants and solar energy stations in Iraq.
Further, the two countries are also cooking up joint petrochemical projects.
