On Thursday, the Iraqi oil ministry denied a media report that the country is in an agreement with OPEC+ to increase its crude oil exports.
Previously, state news agency INA had quoted Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar as telling state-owned daily newspaper al-Sabah that an agreement with the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) to increase Iraq’s crude oil exports is on the way.
“The oil minister did not make these comments and did not meet the newspaper’s reporter,” oil ministry spokesman Asim Jihad said.
The INA article has since been deleted.
Jihad added that Iraq is still committed to the OPEC+ agreement. In August, the country’s total exports averaged 2.6 million bpd, down from July’s 2.76 million bpd.
