Johnson Matthey plc (JM) said that it would provide a license for a new methanol plant in Skovorodino, Russia. Under the contract, JM will provide a license for its combined reforming and Advanced Series Loop technology for the new Amur Oblast facility, which is designed to produce 3,000 tons of methanol a day. The deal also covers the supply of proprietary equipment, catalyst, and associated engineering.
The facility will be the first Russian methanol plant to use JM’s technology. JM claims that its Advanced Series Loop technology is environmentally friendlier and consumes fewer resources compared to conventional technology. It has better natural gas efficiency by utilizing an innovative synthesis loop arrangement.
