On Wednesday, Italy’s ministry of economic development said that the country’s consumption of oil products in May soared as lockdown measures eased, albeit still below the level last year.
May consumption of gasoil and diesel surged by 36% month-on-month or 3.64 million tonnes. However, the figure was still down by 28.5% year-on-year.
Gasoline use skyrocketed by 124% compared to April’s level but still tumbled by 40% from May 2019, at 367,000 tonnes.
Consumption of jet and kerosene jumped by 137% on a monthly basis but also crashed by 83.5% on a yearly basis, at 71,000 tonnes.
