The Maharashtra government on September 30 announced that it would renew the coronavirus lockdown in the Indian state until October 31, while easing some restrictions on certain activities. Under the revised guidelines, restaurants are allowed to offer dine-in services from October 5, but capacity is limited at 50%. Hotels, food courts, and bars will also be allowed to open from October 5 at 50% capacity. The same restrictions also apply to Cinemas which can reopen on October 15.
Maharashtra has also allowed local train services in the Pune region. Dabbawalas (lunch delivery services) will be permitted to travel in local trains. As of September 30, Maharashtra reported a total of 13,84,446 COVID-19 cases, with death tally reaching 481, resulting in a mortality rate of 2.65%. On the bright side, the recovery rate improved from 78.26% to 78.61%.
