Menshen, a plastic closures and packaging systems manufacturer based in the US, has introduced a new range of packaging closures produced by using Borcycle technology developed by Borealis. The technology which converts polyolefin-based waste into new solutions. According to Borealis, Borcycle can be used for the manufacturing of compounds made of recycled polyolefins that are suitable for rigid packaging applications.
Menshen’s new packaging closures are based on Borcycle UG522MO, a polypropylene compound containing 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. Borealis said that this compound could help manufacturers to reduce CO2 emission by up to 15%, compared to using virgin PP. The company also said that Borcycle UG522MO has similar reliability and processability with virgin polyolefins.
