AlwaysFree: Mitsubishi Chemical To Acquire Two German Carbon Fiber Recyclers

Author: SSESSMENTS

Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical Corp (MCC), plans to acquire two German carbon fibre recycling companies as a part of the company’s efforts to support the circular economy. MCC, through its Zurich-based subsidiary Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials, will take over CFK Valley Stade Recycling GmbH & Co. KG and carboNXT GmbH from Karl Meyer AG. The acquisition of both companies is slated for completion around early August.

CFK has established a network to collect scrap mainly from customers in mobility-related industries. It also recycles these materials into usable forms of carbon fibre by utilizing its advanced proprietary technology. Meanwhile, carboNXT handles the sales of these recycled products.

MCC has also acquired engineering plastics recyclers Minger Group and carbon fibre prepreg producer c-m-p GmbH. These acquisitions will help MCC to establish a chain covering carbon fibres manufacturing, as well as scrap collection and recycling of carbon fibres in Europe. MCC has already established a similar chain in Japan.
