According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on November 7, 2022, Moldova in October 2022 reduced consumption of Russian gas by 57% year-on-year, according to Deputy Prime Minister Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu.
The official wrote in his Telegram channel that it was possible to reduce gas consumption by 57%, and electricity consumption - by 14.25% in October.
Earlier, Moldovagaz said that Russian gas shipments fell by 51%, to 5.7 mln cubic meters per day, in November. Gazprom explained the decline by the refusal of Ukrainian company Naftogaz to transport fuel in full.
Moldova has been experiencing a power deficit since last week, after Ukraine and the Moldavskaya GRES, which is located in the unrecognized Transnistria, limited their supplies to the country. The government has strengthened energy-saving regulations, reducing street illumination while advising households to avoid using elevators and turn off electrical appliances.
