AlwaysFree: Most Texas Refineries to Keep Running During Storm Beta

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Monday, sources and firms said that most refineries in Texas Gulf Coast plan to maintain normal operations during the passage of Tropical Storm Beta, which is estimated to keep losing strength after coming ashore on Tuesday.

According to sources familiar with plant operations, the US largest refinery, Motiva Enterprises’ 607,000 bpd Port Arthur in Texas would maintain operations this week as it has only been a week following its restart from Hurricane Laura.

On Saturday, Valero’s 335,000 bpd Port Arthur refinery had just restarted its gasoline-producing unit after being shut due to Laura on August 25. Total will maintain normal operation as well and is continuing to restart after the shutdown from Laura with its severe weather preparation plan activated.

Marathon Petroleum’s Galveston Bay refinery in Texas City, Texas, Phillip 66’s Sweeny, Texas, refinery, Lyondell Basell Industries' Houston refinery, Chevron Corp's Pasadena, Texas, refinery, Royal Dutch Shell Plc.'s Deer Park, Texas, refinery and Exxon Mobil Corp's Baytown, Texas, refinery all plan to keep operating.
