AlwaysFree: Neste, Mitsui Chemicals, Toyota Tsusho Work Together To Produce Renewable Plastics In Japan

Author: SSESSMENTS

Neste Corp., Mitsui Chemicals Inc., and Toyota Tsusho on Thursday announced that they would cooperate in setting up the first industrial-scale production of renewable plastics and chemicals in Japan. As part of the partnership, Mitsui will use Neste RE 100% bio-based hydrocarbons to replace a portion of its fossil-based feedstocks for its crackers in Osaka. This will make Mitsui the first Japanese company to convert bio-based feedstock into renewable ethylene, propylene, C4 fraction, benzene, and other chemicals that will be used to produce chemicals such as phenol, or plastics including polyethylene and polypropylene. Mitsui Chemicals and Toyota Tsusho plans to obtain ISCC certification for renewable plastics and chemicals production.
