The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association (NOG) said approximately 330,000 boepd or 8% of the country’s total oil and gas production is at risk amid an ongoing strike by 169 workers organised by the Lederne labour union. The NOG said output from six fields could immediately shut, including Equinor’s Gudrun, Gina Krog, Kvitebjorn, and Valemon; Wintershall Dea’s Vega; and Neptune’s Gjoea. A spokesperson with Equinor on Monday said it had to start shutdown procedures at the four fields if the strike went further.
Lederne chief Audun Ingvartsen said the union is seeking better financial terms for its members, including covering workers at onshore remote control rooms under offshore wage agreements. Some producers are considering controlling offshore platforms remotely to cut costs. Ingvartsen said producers had not shown willingness to meet the demand. Hence, the strike was extended into Monday.
