On Tuesday, Brazilian state-oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) said that it is in talks with SBM Offshore NV to rent a floating platform for the Buzios field in the Santos Basin, Brazil.
SBM will build the Almirante Tamandaré floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit, while Petrobras will pay daily rent for it. The unit will be the sixth in the Buzios field.
The FPSO will have a production capacity of 225,000 bpd of oil and 12 mcfd of gas, and the production is set to start in 2024.
Petrobras will hire the ship directly from SBM as currently there are no other suppliers available.
