Polish gas major PGNiG warned about the impact of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline on the EU gas market.
In a submission as part of the certification procedure for the pipeline's operator, PGNiG expressed its objections to the project, stating that it would strengthen Russian gas major Gazprom’s dominant position in Europe.
CEO Pawel Majewski said that the current situation on the EU gas market proves the scale of the risks for the security of supplies created by the project. He added that actually, since the spare capacity on the existing pipelines is adequate, there is no need for Nord Stream 2 to increase gas supplies to the EU.
