AlwaysFree: Philippines Hiked Tariffs on Imported Oil, Refined Petroleum

On Monday, the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte temporarily hiked tariffs on imported crude oil and refined petroleum products by 10%.

The decision was taken to fund measures in mitigating the impact of the coronavirus impact in the country, which has resulted in lockdowns in several regions. The proceeds would fund steps including cash dole-outs.

Ordinarily, the Philippines imposed up to 3% tariffs on the mentioned commodities.
