On Monday, Phillips 66 has started the shutdown of its manufacturing complex in Lake Charles, Louisiana in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Laura.
The company said that non-essential personnel have been freed from work, including in the 260,000 bpd refinery, ahead of the storm.
Laura is estimated to be close to major hurricane strength upon arriving at the US Gulf Coast. Energy firms have been slashing productions at oil refineries following the 82% cut of the area’s offshore crude oil output.
