Polish refiner and chemical maker PKN Orlen has launched a new propylene glycol production plant at its Trzebinia biorefinery in Malopolska, Poland. The project is estimated to cost PLN400 million ($100.58 million) and is expected to generate operating EBITDA of more than PLN50 million ($12.57 million) annually. The construction of the new plant began in the fall of 2019 and was completed according to the schedule. The new plant can produce up to 30,000 tons/year of propylene glycol, about 75% of Poland’s domestic requirements. The complex also includes Poland’s first hydrogen hub, which is part of PKN Orlen’s strategic goals in the low- and zero-emission energy segment.
