AlwaysFree: Propylene Splitter Successfully Transported To Borealis PDH Plant In Kallo

Author: SSESSMENTS

The construction of Borealis’ propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant in Kallo (Belgium) has reached an important milestone.  The propylene splitter was successfully transported to the site in Kallo.

The propylene splitter will split propane from propylene. The splitter is one of the largest equipment ever delivered in one piece to the Port of Antwerp with a length of 105 meters, a width of 10 meters and a weight of 1,600 tons.

An  annual production capacity of 750,000 m.t./yr targeted by this plant, making it one of the world’s largest and most efficient facilities. By the end of 2022, production is expected to start. To develop and produce renewable propylene and polypropylene, sourcing renewable propane as feedstock has been recently started by Borealis.
