  • The 31st summit of the Arab League is set to kick off in the Algerian capital of Algiers on Tuesday

According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on November 1, 2022, Moscow is ready to boost ties with the Arab League and all its members, particularly in strengthening regional and global security, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a message to the heads of state and heads of government of Arab League countries participating in the 31st summit of the organization.

"Russia is ready to continue to fully boost ties with the Arab League and all its members, particularly in strengthening regional and global security. We believe that the military and political issues that the Middle East and North Africa are facing, including the Syrian and Libyan crises and the Yemeni and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts, should be resolved based on universally recognized international laws, with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states," the Russian president stated in his message, published on the Kremlin website on Tuesday.

The head of state pointed out that the formation of a multipolar system of international relations, based on the principles of equality, justice and respect for each other’s legitimate interests, was gaining momentum amid the serious political and economic changes that the world was going through. Middle Eastern and North African countries, who have a total population of nearly half a billion, are playing an increasing role in the process, Putin noted. "Undoubtedly, the tasks of improving the international situation and opposing the threats and challenges of our time increase the demand for coordinated collective efforts and significantly raise the importance of representative organizations such as the Arab League," the Russian leader added. He was confident that efforts to further enhance the partnership between Russia and Arab countries was in line with the common interests of the parties and the need to ensure global peace and stability.

The 31st summit of the Arab League is set to kick off in the Algerian capital of Algiers on Tuesday. The event’s agenda includes pressing regional issues, namely the situation in Yemen, Libya and Syria, the Palestine issue, as well as ways to ensure food security and strengthen relations between Arab nations.
