Spain’s Repsol SA will build the country’s first production plant for advanced biofuels at its Cartagena refinery.
The facility is planned to supply 250,000 tpa of advanced biofuels and reduce 900,000 tpa of CO2. The construction is estimated to cost EUR188 million (USD223 million) and will include the establishment of a hydrogen plant that will fuel a new hydrotreatment unit.
The project is a part of Repsol’s program in energy transition and will support its net-zero emission goal by 2050.
