Southeastern Europe’s biggest energy company OMV Petrom SA has invested to raise its bio-blending capacity and infrastructure on one of its refineries.
OMV Petrom’s Petrobrazi refinery will receive an investment of EUR21 million (USD24.9 million). The refinery has a crude oil processing capacity of 4.5 million tpa.
OMV Petrom supplies fuels with a volumetric bio-content of 6.5% in diesel and 8% in gasoline. By 2030, renewable energy content in transportation fuels must increase to 14% from the current’s 10%, as per European regulations.
The company has a goal to cut carbon emissions by 27% in 2025 from 2010 level. Utilizing sustained investments, it has slashed its carbon emissions from its operations by 22% in 2019 from 2010 level.
