According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on November 1, 2022, Russia and Iran will scale up cooperation in the energy sphere in the next year, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters after the meeting of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission.
"The energy sector is critical for us. This is the electric power and the oil and gas industries. A series of investment projects has already been implemented there for oil production in Iran with participation of Russian companies. Volumes will grow further in the next year and new fields will be tapped," Novak said.
Moscow and Tehran agreed to sign the free trade zone agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union in the near time, the official added.
