Without giving precise numbers, two Russian sources said the country is ready to reduce its production very substantially to prop up weak oil markets.
To discuss how to support the oil market, the OPEC+ members plan to hold a video conference on Thursday.
No response from the Russian energy ministry to a request for comment. Earlier on Monday, Kremlin spokesman said Russia was ready to work with other leading oil-exporting countries.
Following lockdowns to curb the spread of the coronavirus, oil demand is getting weak. To steady the global oil market, total cuts of 10 million bpd proposed so far might not be enough, a government and an industry source said.
OPEC+ cuts could amount to around 10 million bpd, or some 10 percent of global output, Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week. Production of 11.29 million bpd reached by Russia last month.
