AlwaysFree: SABIC, Fibertex Collaborate To Produce Circular PP-Based Nonwovens

Author: SSESSMENTS

SABIC and Fibertex Personal Care are working together to produce the world’s first spun-bond nonwovens from certified circular polypropylene (PP) that meets requirements from the hygiene industry. SABIC will provide Fibertex with high-purity recycled PP from its TruCircle portfolio produced from depolymerised post-consumer mixed plastics. SABIC claims the new materials can meet consumer safety standards and brand owner requirements for purity for hygiene applications.

Fibertex will use the certified circular PP to produce nonwovens under its various product range. These certified nonwovens can be applied in downstream processes to make end-products’ with on par properties and performance compared to fossil-based ones. Mikael Staal Axelsen, Fibertex’s Group CEO said the new products marked a significant step forward in supporting the company’s expansion in bio-based and circular polymers.
