A spokeswoman with Shell Canada has confirmed that the company had cancelled plans for the potential divestment of its Sarnia Manufacturing Centre, which include a refinery, chemicals plant, distribution terminals, and a 45% stake in Sun-Canadian Pipeline. The divestiture was announced in January 2019, and as late as Thursday, Shell said it would assess its next moves if it receives interest at a later date. The spokeswoman noted that the company would maintain its marketing presence in Ontario, adding that she was unaware of any plans for permanent closure.
