On Tuesday, sources familiar with plant operations said that Royal Dutch Shell Plc would keep going with production on its 318,000 bpd joint-venture Deer Park refinery in Texas despite the risk of Hurricane Laura.
The company is monitoring the progress of the storm and studying the potential risks it possesses to employees and the refinery and chemical plant complex.
Spokesman Curtis Smith said that Shell has specialists ensuring measures are taken to minimize the impact of the hurricane.
