According to the company’s website news release on January 20, 2023, Shell strongly supports Australia’s emissions reduction target of 43% from 2005 levels by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050.
The company welcomes the policy stability provided through legislation of these targets. A stable emissions policy framework is important to encourage investment in clean energy technologies, particularly when companies are competing for global capital to make these investments.
In this regard, Shell supports the Australian Government’s Safeguard Mechanism. Shell looksforward to engaging further on the next stage of consultation with the government in the coming months.
