Shin-Etsu Chemical reported a net income of ¥69.3 billion ($658.3 million) in the April-June quarter of 2020, 17.5% lower than income in the same period last year. Earnings stood at ¥166.93 ($1.6) per share, decreasing from ¥201.95 per share a year earlier. Operating income was down 15.4% year-on-year to ¥90.9 billion ($863.5 million), while sales fell 7% to ¥359.3 billion ($3.4 billion). For the six-month period ending September 2020, Shin-Etsu projects net income per share to reach ¥334.24 ($3.17) with net sales of ¥705.0 billion ($6.7 billion).
