To boost competition and give more options to gas buyers, Singapore’s Energy Market Authority is seeking to appoint two new LNG term importers for the city-state, adding to the two it already has. In Singapore’s energy mix, natural gas is expected to play a growing role as the country shifts towards renewable energy.
Besides adding the capability to break up big cargoes into smaller ones, Singapore has been expanding its LNG infrastructure by increasing storage capacity. To choose and designate two new importers who will receive a gas importer licence, a request for a proposal issued by the energy regulator. Proposals must be submitted by November 9 and will be evaluated.
