AlwaysFree: Sinopec’s Beihai Upgrade Finishing to be Delayed

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Friday, Sinopec said that its Chinese Beihai refinery’s upgrade finishing date would be delayed.

The refining structure upgrade project is now targeted to finish by June 2021, three months later than the original schedule.

Starting 2019, the refinery is adding a light cycle oil to aromatic and gasoline (LTAG) unit with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes along with a 30,000 cu mph hydrogen generation unit. The upgrade is estimated to cost CNY987 million (USD148.8 million).

Upon completion, Beihai’s crude refining capacity would be expanded to 160,000 bpd or 8 million tpa from the present’s 6.5 million tonnes.

The company did not elaborate on the reason for the delay.
