China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) announced its spending plan for hydrogen energy until 2025 of CNY30 billion (USD4.6 billion) with an annual capacity of 200,000 tpa, practically being China’s biggest hydrogen producer.
Between 2021-2025, the company plans to produce more than 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen from renewable energy sources, along with 400 MW of solar power generation capacity for supplying electricity to charge vehicles.
From non-renewable energy sources, Sinopec produces roughly 3 million tpa of hydrogen, mainly used in oil refinery and petrochemical processes.
So far, the company has erected 20 hydrogen filling stations, with another 60 under construction or in the planning and approval stage.
