According to Anadolu Agency article published on February 22, 2023, SOCAR Türkiye Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit Chief Financial Officer Elchin Ibadov has been appointed to act as the CEO, which was vacated by Zaur Gahramanov.
According to the statement made by the company, Zaur Gahramanov, who left his duty as SOCAR Türkiye CEO, will continue his duty at SOCAR's headquarters in Baku.
Gahramanov, who has been working in various senior positions within SOCAR for 15 years in Azerbaijan, Switzerland and most recently in Türkiye, will serve as the Advisor to the President of SOCAR.
After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Elchin Ibadov started working as a Research Associate at the World Trade Center Chicago in 2002. Beginning in 2003, he held various positions at PwC for 11 years.
Elchin Ibadov, who served as the Finance Director and CFO at STAR Refinery between 2014 and 2019, was appointed as CFO in Petkim in November 2019. He also plays an important role in the Turkish economy such as STAR Refinery, Petkim, SOCAR Fuel Storage and SOCAR Petrol Ticaret. He served as Assistant Financial Affairs Officer of the Head of the Refinery and Petrochemical Business Unit, which includes companies supplying companies.
Attaching importance to continuous education and development, Ibadov undertook the authorship and translation of some textbooks on economics, accounting, finance, International Financial Reporting Standards and financial auditing, in addition to the professional training and certificate programs he completed at Harvard Business School. Ibadov is also a permanent member of international financial and auditing organizations such as ACCA, ACFE and IIA.
On the other hand, Zaur Gahramanov received his MBA degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (USA) between 2014-2016 after graduating from Azerbaijan State University of Economics Department of International Economic Relations with a bachelor's and master's degrees.
Gahramanov, who started his career in the finance and tax departments of KPMG, continued his career at Ernst & Young. Gahramanov, who joined SOCAR in 2008 after working in the field of performance management and finance at Statoil company in Norway between 2004-2008, served as CFO (Chief Financial Officer) at SOCAR Trading SA Switzerland until 2013.
Gahramanov, who was subsequently appointed as the Vice President of SOCAR Azerbaijan Investments Department, has been the CEO of SOCAR Türkiye Enerji A.Ş. since 2016.
