Belgium-based specialty chemical maker Solvay on Tuesday announced that it had developed a technology that will enable the recycling of polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) without sacrificing the performance of the high barrier polymer. Solvay said polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) recycled from post-industrial waste is able to meet requirements for indirect food contact and healthcare multilayer barrier packaging. In the announcement, Solvay also invited fellow plastic companies to cooperate in establishing polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) sorting and recycling infrastructure to advance the application of sustainable and circular packaging.
