Algeria’s national oil company Sonatrach is moving forward with the development of the $6-billion petrochemical complex at Skikda, according to CEO Toufik Hakkar last week. Sonatrach is currently consulting with foreign partners regarding the complex. The company also continues the study for a $6-billion methanol and derivatives project, he added.
Sonatrach will also take part in the Ministry of Industry’s phosphate extraction and transformation project, which is also currently under a study. Sonatrach expects to sign the contract on the project before the end of 2020. The company is also developing the five million-tons/year Hassi Messaoud refinery, Hakkar added.
