Shell and BP South African Petroleum Refineries (Pty) Ltd. (SAPREF), South Africa’s largest refinery, plans to minimize the turnaround to only very essential activities on the back of the country’s lockdown to limit the spread of coronavirus.
A spokeswoman said that the company was still arranging the activity to maintain crude supply to the refinery as the refinery intends to continue operating to support the country’s petroleum products’ supply.
SAPREF made up of 35% of South Africa’s refining capacity.
