On Wednesday, the Euroforce tanker containing a cargo of Iranian gasoline seized by the US arrived at the port of Freeport, Texas where it was preparing to discharge.
The Euroforce was in preparation to offload the fuel, seized from Iran-linked tankers bound for Venezuela then it was in US custody, said a spokesman of the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
According to Refinitiv Eikon tanker tracking data, the tanker carried roughly 640,000 barrels of gasoline upon arrival.
A spokesman of the port of Freeport said that the vessel was not scheduled to be unloaded at the port’s public docks and likely would be handled by one of two private docks.
Another tanker containing the confiscated cargoes, Maersk Progress, is due to arrive in Houston later this month.
The seizure has been challenged by owners of four Iranian fuel cargoes in a US District Court. They assert rights to control the cargoes which are said to be bound for customers in Peru and Colombia.
Previously in August, the US government said it confiscated fuel from Iran-linked tankers that were bound for Venezuela, in Washington’s bid to disrupt trade between Venezuela and Iran.
