On Monday, a vessel Alkimos, carrying roughly 100,000 barrels of gasoline, that is suspected to aim for Venezuela arrived at a US port after a US court approved a private sale of the loadings.
In a lawsuit filed in May, Brujo Finance Co. suspected Sea Energy Co. who chartered its Alkimos, planned to send the vessel to Venezuela and not to Aruba or Curacao as initially stated. Sea Energy denied the claim.
Late in August, the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas approved a private sale of the cargo to Kolmar Americas for USD2.75 million after previous efforts to auction the cargo and conduct a court-supervised private sale had fallen through.
