Author: SSESSMENTS

  • The works that will allow the entrance of the railway to the Port of Sagunto are the result of an agreement signed by ADIF, the Port Authority of Valencia and Puertos del Estado
  • This railway connection to the Port of Sagunto was a factor considered by Volkswagen managers to locate their battery megafactory in Parc Sagunt

According to the company’s website news release on March 1, 2023, at Tuesday 28th February, technicians from ADIF, Puertos del Estado and the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), together with representatives of the construction company and the works management, visited the works and railway connections that will link the Port of Sagunto with the Mediterranean Corridor.

The parties noted the good pace of execution of the project and how advanced the works are; from the physical connection of the tracks that will link the Port of Sagunto with the general network of ADIF, to the last section of work that passes over the drainage channel of Arcelor, almost at the gates of the port area.

The works that will allow the railway to enter the Port of Sagunto are the result of an agreement signed by ADIF, the Port Authority of Valencia and Puertos del Estado, and contemplate an investment budget of 36.6 million Euro. Of these, 25.13 million euros will be provided by Valenciaport and 11.5 million euros by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This is a single-track, double gauge, electrified access.

This railway connection of the Port of Sagunto with the general network and the fact that the works on these tracks were already underway were very much taken into account by Volkswagen managers to locate their battery megafactory in Parc Sagunt, according to what the German automobile company’s managers have explained on several occasions.

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV),which trades under the name of VALENCIAPORT, is the public body responsible for running and managing three state-owned ports along an 80km stretch of the Mediterranean coast in Eastern Spain: Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía.
