AlwaysFree: Tidewater Midstream Considers Renewable Project At Prince George Refinery

Author: SSESSMENTS

Tidewater Midstream said it was considering a renewable project at its 12,000 bpd refinery in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. The project includes building a 3,000 bpd hydrogen and renewable diesel complex. It will be a standalone complex that will use 100% renewable feedstock. CEO Joel McLeod said that the project remained in the evaluation phase.

McLeod added that Tidewater has not allocated a budget for the project but has engaged with Haldor Topsoe. The Danish catalysts maker and chemical service provider holds an 80% market share in renewable diesel. He added that the project would enter service by 2023 if the company could achieve a financing plan in the next 60 or so days.

Once operational, the renewable complex could help Tidewater to cut its carbon intensity and related greenhouse gas emissions by about 80%-90% and 65%-75%, respectively, equal to annual emissions from 70,000-80,000 cars.
