Japan’s Toray Industries on Monday announced a plan to expand its production capacity of Torayfan oriented polypropylene film for automotive capacitors at its Tsuchiura Plant in Ibaraki Prefecture by 60% in 2022. The expansion is aimed to capture an expanding market for electric vehicles.
According to the producer’s claim, Torayfan is a light and sturdy plastic material with excellent mechanical and electrical properties. It has a wide range of applications extending from film capacitors to packaging. Film capacitors are usually used in electric circuits of consumer electronics, information technology equipment, and inverter circuits for the power control units (PCU) of electric vehicle motors.
