Turkey’s sales of automobiles for light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and passenger cars soared 134.5% year-on-year in August, the Automotive Distributors’ Association (ODD) industry group data showed. Last month, a total of 61,533 vehicles were sold in the country, marking a hefty rise from only 26,234 in August 2019. LCV sales recorded at 17,161 units making a 265% year-on-year boost, while passenger cars were sold as much as 44,372 with a 106% in year-on-year comparison.
From January to August 2020, the automotive market in Turkey expanded 68.4% to 403,002 units on a year-on-year basis. LCV sales spiked to 85,608 units, marking a 86.1% increase, while passenger cars rose to 317,394 or 64.2% increase so far in 2020.
